A Visit To CET Video-Conferencing Room In SQU
In 13/10/2008 we have visited the video conferencing room in SQU. They use the Tandberg video conferencing system. Tandberg system provide the whole solution to establishing video conference. It can be two or multiple users at the same time. Like other video conference tools, it depend on the IP address. This room has designed to avoid the audio destruction and echo.Msr. Humaid AL-Hanaai from CET have made a quick conference to other room at squ. They use LCD projector to display the video conference and plasma screen to display the current room pictures. Each student have a laptop computer which is connected to the system. The teacher have the opportunity to choose what to display the power point presentation, student computer, video from the room , user video or even more than one thing at the same time.
Sultan Qaboos University have been experiencing this technology to receive a real time lecture from Curia. Also in medicine department they benefit from this technology for sharing and receiving a surgery operations. So, it is possible to use the video conferencing system to provide DE courses in SQU but I don’t think it will be a possibility to provide a whole program in distance.

Athabasca University

1) Learner-learner interaction
a. AUSU PEER SUPPORT OPTIONS:
i. AUSU Discussion Forums:
A great place to get in touch with other AU students. It is also a great place to read about students' experiences with AU courses, or just to talk about what interests you.

2) Learner-content interaction
1. Ask AU: To answer FAQ
2. Free publishing:
· AUSU News: These services tell the member information about what happens at AUSU by sending mails to students once or twice a year.
